Slide.com

There is another easy digital photo slideshow utility at Slide.com. However, unlike SoundSlides, Slide.com allows you to easily upload your existing digital photos and then display them using various visual templates.

Slide.com does not include audio. If you are looking to post an online scrapbook of photos or tell a story through pictures and captions, this program offers a quick and easy way to embed your work within your blog or Web site.

To use Slide.com, you will first need to register at the Slide.com Web site.

Once you are registered, you should click on "Make A New Slide Show."

Assuming you have photos on your hard drive, you can then use the BROWSE button to navigate to your photos stored locally. After you select the photo, it will be uploaded to the Slide.com servers. You will see a preview of your slide show at the top center of the screen as you continue to upload each photograph.

Once completed, you can then choose to customize the template, visual display and captions for your presentation.

To CUSTOMIZE your slide show, use the various buttons on the right side of the upload tool. Each button contains a visual clue about the type of effect that will be used when selected. Among the options are: Style, Themes, Skins and Size. You can also select PRIVACY to limit access to your slide show.

If you want to change the order of display for your photos, simply drag and drop the photos into the order you want them to appear using the interface at the bottom of the screen.

To add a caption to a photo, simply put your cursor in the small box below each photo (at the bottom of the screen). You can even customize the caption text size, color and background.

Once you are ready to save the project, hit SAVE. On the next screen, you can choose the location that you want to upload the slide show to. For example, by selecting BLOGGER the site will give you code to cut-and-paste into the BLOGGER "Create Post" field.

Here is an example of a project that I worked on:

The above slide show features photos from a recent visit to Minsk, Belarus. I was a guest of the U.S. Department of State in September 2006.
